Quebec: Sami Lamhamedi triple medalist in an international ski tournament
Moroccan-Canadian skier Sami Lamhamedi shone during the technical slalom and giant slalom competitions of the 22nd edition of the “International Sports Ski Federation (FIS) Super Series Sports Experts”, winning three medals, two in gold and one in silver.
In the senior category (+21 years old), Sami Lamhamedi won a gold and silver medal in slalom, as well as a gold medal in giant slalom. The “Super Série Sports Experts” took place from December 20 to 23, respectively in Mont Saint-Sauveur and Tremblant, two ski resorts in Quebec, with the participation of 132 skiers, from several countries (United States, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy, Holland, Greece and Morocco).
During the first slalom, Lamhamedi, silver medalist, achieved the 2nd best time of the 1st heat (54sec 63 / 100è) and the best time of the second (50sec 56 / 100è) with a cumulative time of 1min 45sec 35 / 100th, 16/100 of the Canadian Louis Latulipe, winner of this slalom (1min 45sec 19 / 100è).
For the 2nd slalom, he won the gold medalist by achieving the best time of the 1st heat (49sec 79 / 100è) and the 2nd best time of the second (48sec 71 / 100è) with a cumulative time of 1min 38sec 50 / 100th.
In the first giant slalom, the only Moroccan competitor, gold medalist, achieved the 2nd best time of the first heat (57sec 78 / 100è) and the best time of the second (56sec 99 / 100è) with a cumulative time of 1min 54sec 77 / 100th. During this competition, he competed with the elite skiers of the Quebec team who represent the Canadian development team.
Sami Lamhamedi was crowned champion of the 2019 FIS Eastern Canadian Alpine Ski Circuit and 3rd in the general classification of the 2019 Super Series Sports Experts. So far, in the senior category (+21 years) and despite his young age, he won 15 medals (4 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze) on the FIS circuit.
