The region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra experienced, in 2019, the implementation of a series of development projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the population. Thus, the regional council approved projects for a total cost of 15,604 MDH, which it financed up to 3,377 MDH.

In this regard, the Council approved at its three regular sessions held in March, July and October 2019, a series of projects aimed at achieving economic development, promoting investment and improving the conditions for life of citizens, including the rehabilitation and strengthening of the road network, the reduction of territorial and social disparities and the development of the urban environment.


These projects, carried out by the Regional Council directly or through partnership agreements, relate to integrated development, rehabilitation and strengthening of the road network in the region, urban planning, connection to the electricity network and drinking water, promotion of employment and vocational training, support for crafts and support for health services and environmental projects.

As for the projects of the two integrated development programs of the prefectures of Skhirat-Témara and Salé, the first costs 4 MMDH, an envelope to which the Council contributes with 364 MDH, while the second costs 4,343 MMDH, including a contribution of 520 MDH of the Council.

As part of the modernization of the road network, the region has completed the splitting of national road No. 4 between Kenitra and Sidi Kacem. This project, which required a budget of 510 million DH, including 220 MDH allocated by the region, aims to strengthen economic development in the region, by allowing citizens and economic actors to benefit from the dynamics of this region, in particular at the level of the free industrial zone.

There will also be an extension of the new ring road No. 2 from Salé to Bouknadel. This project requires the mobilization of a budget of 200 MDH, with a participation of the Council of the region which amounts to 90 MDH.

The year 2019 has planned in its programming the realization of 15 road projects (89.8 kilometers) for an overall cost estimated at 172.9 MDH, in six provinces and prefectures and for the benefit of ten douars in 15 municipalities, in addition to the project to split the national road No. 27 connecting the motorway to Moulay Bouselham (101.6 MDH, of which 12.69 MDH allocated by the Council) and three projects of classified roads over 26.4 km, as well that three structures financed entirely by the Council of the region, for an amount of 47.31 MDH.

Regarding urban planning, the Rabat-Salé-kénitra region council adopted, for 2019, the rehabilitation and enhancement program for the Medina of Salé 2019-2023, for an amount of 900 MDH aimed at preserving the identity and authenticity of the Medina and strengthening its economic and tourist attractiveness.

In this context, the Council carried out restoration work and the Medina of Rabat and its buildings threatening ruin, through the establishment of a project of 130 MDH, in which it contributes up to 30 MDH, in addition to the project to finance and carry out a rehabilitation and structuring program for emerging centers in the province of Kenitra.

Significant mobilization for Rabat
At the level of the projects of connection to the electricity and drinking water network, it was proceeded to the financing and the realization of water supply projects of the communes of Mrabih and Aïn Dfali (province of Sidi Kacem) drinking water and the connection of public lighting transformers to the medium-voltage network, particularly in the municipalities of Mssaada, Ouled Ben Hammadi and Ouled Hssine (province of Sidi Slimane).

In the social aspect, the Council of the region approved the project of the framework convention linked to the Regional plan for the fight against precariousness in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra 2016-2021, the project of construction of a Center of addictology in the prefecture of Salé, the project to build and equip a multidisciplinary center for the benefit of people with disabilities in Souk El-Arbaa du Gharb and the project to build a regional center for people mental disorders, among others.

The promotion of cultural activity was also on the menu of the achievements of the Council, which thus gave its approval to the draft convention relating to a contribution of the region to the organization of the International Festival "Rabat Lights", of the International Festival of Rabat for culture and the arts, in addition to the acquisition of 21 theater offers.
